In today’s day and age, we often only rest or reset if it’s societally appropriate. Right? I mean, it’s okay to “be tired” if you’ve worked a full eight hours (even though the body requires rest after six). It’s warranted to take a vacation IF you’ve earned the days and IF you submit the proper paperwork and wait diligently for someone in authority to grant you the time. And retirement, if you put in a whole twenty or so years, you by golly have earned that “well-deserved” retirement yes? Interesting right?
What happens when you’ve grown up in a high stress environment, learn “processing” that makes navigating young adulthood almost impossible, try to get a societally appropriate degree, a societally appropriate job, work enough hours to pay for enough “things” to keep up with the Joneses, whoever they are, pick a mate, do the marriage thing, do the kid thing, somehow make mistakes here or there not really understanding why, break up, get divorced, struggle, fall again too fast, try to make more money for more stuff…. yada, yaddie, yaddddddaaaaaaaaa!!!!
This is just an example, put any supposed societal appropriate idea or story in place of it and you can still wind up with THE BODY INDICATING a huge NO!
That’s right. Because no matter how we tell it, we often do not slow down until the body presents with a health issue.

It means according to the APA, chronic stress is linked to the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. And more than seventy-five percent of all physician office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints. Now, this was something I learned back in 2014, so you can imagine those numbers have gone up but the ailments are still high on the list! What would happen if the nucleus of the body breakdown was addressed? I know duh, right?
Now, let’s visit the topic of CPTSD for a moment. Those of us that suffer from “processing” difficulties, because we were already in a high-stress situation when we were developing (childhood), try to step forward into even more of life (adulthood), and stress then wonder why we battle body ailments, often times, younger! We go out, over-taxing our adrenals and health, trying to make all kinds of money…only to have to use that very money to recover our health!!
